a couple mac questions

Hello all:
A friend just got a macbook pro, and has a couple questions. I assume this is different on lion.
First, she's stuck using compact voices (and would really love to disable them).
Second, the method for enabling trackpad commander (vo+rotate counter clockwise) does not seem to work anymore, or it has been changed somehow. Anyone able to shed some light on this? I'm coming from snow leopard with my experience, so any other gotchas would be welcome so I could help her better.

Thanks,

what do you mean compact voices? i've never seen compact voices on lion and as for the command for trackpad commander i'm not sure but i thought it was clockwise to activate, not counter-clockwise.

Compact voices can be downloaded in Lion. I don't know which voices Lion comes with however, all you need to do is go in to the voiceover utillity and not remembering exactly where it is under customize is a list of all the voices that can be downloaded and installed. Check the ones you want and uncheck the ones you don't want and that will do it.

Rat is correct, in that you do vo plus a clockwise turn on the trackpad to turn the launch pad on, and counterclockwise to turn it off.
For voices, first open the VoiceOver utility with vo plus f8, and then navigate to the speech cell in the table. Then, interact with the speech settings and use vo up and down arrow to cycle through the various voices that you can choose from once you land on the voices tab. Select which voices you want to download, and they will then be downloaded the next time you launch the app store if memory serves correctly.
